Event Title: Northwest Steam Society Annual Meet

Held annually since 1975, this the NWSS Meet draws hobby steam enthusiasts from San Diego, California to Juneau, Alaska. Although primarily about hobby steamboats there are also traction engines, steam cars, logging equipment, fire fighting equipment, calliopes... Held in a different location in each the Meet is an opportunity for hobby steamers to get together and swap tales as well as expose the general public to the hobby.

Steamboating here is enjoyable - no i.c. boats over 20hp so no wake surfing. Paved boat ramp with parking (if you're boat is not PA or NJ registered you'll have to get a permit). Rest rooms, picnic tables, and over 7 miles of deep water lake with forested shoreline. More info at

Where: Hudson River Maritime Museum, 50 Rondout Landing, Kingston, NY 12401
Friday, August 21, 2009

Steamboat Days is an annual event at the Hudson River Maritime Museum. Boat launching is free at the Hideaway Marina, about 1/4 mile from the Museum up Rondout Creek. Friday is an unscheduled day for boats to arrive and dock. Saturday is the public day,starting around 12:00 Noon with various demonstrations and musical performances. Free rides will be provided for the public by any larger boats that wish to participate. Fire wood will be provided. Saturday night there will be a London Broil steak cookout dinner. Sunday morning at 10:00 AM we will have a brunch provided by the Sea Scouts. Boats can explore Rondout Creek and the Hudson River. The water is fresh at Kingston so condensers are not required.
